Edinburgh Design School’s Pottery Foundation: Level 1 courses are delivered two hours per week over eight weeks and teach students the pottery fundamentals.

You will learn the pottery fundamentals starting with the properties of clay, wheel throwing and hand building techniques, decorating techniques, firing processes and safe studio working practices. The eight weeks gives time for everyone to make, decorate and prepare for firing lots of pots and vessels.

The course concentrates on developing pottery techniques and creative approaches to practice. The classes are focused but great fun and you can make both functional and sculptural forms.

Courses run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sundays and cost £260 per person. Materials and firing costs are included.
