Introduction to Fly Press - Two Day Workshop

  • SilverHub Studios 40 Ferry Road Edinburgh United Kingdom (map)

Led by SilverHub Studio Director, Lisa Arnott (BA Hons, PGC, MFA Metalwork and Jewellery), you will learn how to use a traditional silversmithing fly press and hydraulic press to create small scale 2 dimensional objects which could be used within jewellery design and taking your jewellery design to a new level.

With a combination of guided demonstrations and hands-on experience, you will have the opportunity to texture through roll printing. You will learn how to cut your own silhouette from Perspex, cut quick multiples using pancake dies and with your textured metal (or bring the textures you created from the etching workshop!), learn how to solder and match a 2-sided form to create a 3d object. You will have time to create as well as make a series of samples for future jewellery projects
